You will need to undergo the 24 weeks Section Commander Course (SCC). The main objective of the course is to impart basic Civil Defence knowledge such as firefighting skills, rescue techniques, first aid, command and leadership. At the end of the course, you will possess the necessary skills and knowledge to lead a crew of firefighters.

Training Bond

You are required to sign a two-year training bond. Should you terminate your service during the Section Commander Course or within the two-year bond period, a liquidated damage based on your individual monthly salary is payable.

Yes. You will be paid the full salary for the 6-month Section Commander Course (SCC).

When is my next incremental date, after signing of the appointment letter with SCDF?

You will be eligible for next increment in 6 months of service if you have completed 2 years of full-time NS. For females, your next increment will be in 12 months' time.

What is the Scheme of Service for SCDF Fire and Rescue Specialist (FRS)?

As FRS, you will be appointed under the permanent scheme of service.

How long do I have to wait before I can apply to be in the Specialist career track in SCDF?

Preferably after at least one year. This is to ensure that you have accumulated adequate rescue and operation skills at the front line.
